“Have you heard all the fuss that Failing Light has been making again?”
“Which one?”
“Hell, I don't know. One of them, at least.”
“No, I haven't heard. What is it now?”
“More of the same. Which is all fine and dandy, but every time they do this the Order gets all twitchy. Makes things awkward, especially for us Potentials.”
“Have you heard of Alethea?”
“The artist?”
“No - the other one. The time traveller. People say she knows F.L., and people say that she was casteless once. I don't know if any of this is true, but I know she was helpful when I was having caste troubles. Maybe you should go see her? It can't hurt.”
“Now you mention it… you're not the first person to tell me that. Yeah… I might well do that. It can't hurt…”
— Overheard on Eunomia
To Visionary Alethea,
You are hereby invited to attend the celebration of the coronation of the Ordained-Elect Eusenia. This honour is extended to you in recognition of your services to the Eternal Order in both this timeline, and in others. The invitation entitles you to attend both the ceremony itself, as well as the official celebration which will take place in the following evening. Guests are permitted, but their name must be given to the official planners in advance of the ceremony in order that clearance checks may be performed.
Please respond to this invitation, whether or not you wish to attend.
Below the printed invitation is the following handwritten note.
“Please do come. It is the least I can do to thank you and the others.
“G. Eusenia”
The below text is transcribed from a museum advertisement on Eunomia in the year 1289:
“Order in Art: An Artistic Debut”
“Shown for the first time in the Eunomian Museum of Art History, a thrilling new display from Realiser Alethea. Alethea, studying under her own mother at the Museum has laboured to create a collection of modern art to show the breadth and variety of the Eternal Order. Come see thousands of years of history, rendered in oil and stone.”
“Please book tickets in advance, as we expect a high turnout for this one-of-a-kind exhibition.”
