The Seven Systems

In this space-faring epoch, the Seven Systems are the unarguable leads on the stage of galactic politics. Those seven nations are not the only nations in existence, as there are outlying asteroids and space-stations that have declared their own independence, and have been recognised by the GSP, but they are undoubtedly the most important.

Each of the Seven Systems possesses its own unique culture and customs, which have been the source of much mutual improvement and conflicts.

Achelia 1) was the largest production base for raw materials in the Seven Systems. This filled the pockets of many giant corporations that effectively run the country, while its lower class continues to toil in absolute poverty. Other than industry, Achelia was famed for the cold beauty of its harsh natural environment and for being the favoured site for extreme space sport. All of this became the past as Eunomia strip-mined Achelia and destroyed their homeplanet.

Briareos 2) has suffered through disastrous wars even before the War that followed the Ananke Conference. But they grew back, relying on the guidance of the elders and their advanced bio-technology to rebuild civilization on a once devastated planet. Up until the Conference, they had been the main supplier in foodtrade in the Seven Systems, but planetary bombardment during the War destroyed most of the infrastructures and food is now in shortage even for its own people.

Cheimeros 3) Cheimeros has been committed to isolationism for as long as anyone can remember. The hostile environment has bred a hardy people who look inwards to their community to survive and view outsiders with the same wariness with which they treat the scorching sun and freezing desert. Cheimerons distrust foreigners and only trade begrudgingly, an attitude which has only increased since the War.

Eunomia 4) is the only System that officially follows one religion, and the only System that maintains a caste system. Believing themselves to be the chosen people, they have crusaded against many nations large or small in the past. Because of the expansionist attitude and military tradition, Eunomia once possessed the largest standing army in the Seven System. Now their army stands watch against their own people, in a desperate attempt to protect the crumbling caste system.

Kedalion 5) is famed for mass-manufacturing, automation and cybernetics. Ruled by a council of co-operative representatives that cared little for unnecessary regulations, Kedalion was a paradise for businesses. Their wanton pursuit of profit destroyed them as much as the War did. Now the rich live in self-created illusions of grandeur, and the poor struggle every day just to survive the gangs and the poverty itself.

Kybele 6) was a plutocratic state that embraced wealth almost as much as they embraced media. They rejoiced in music and art, and spread their love of culture far and wide through their clever media tactics. Then the War came and wrecked its climate. The once glistening cities lie in ruins and the Kybele people huddle in repurposed buildings and underground tunnels, with territorial wars breaking out every so often.

Selas 7) was originally founded by Eunomians who disagreed with the rigidity of the Eunomia society. The Selasi value the pure pursuit of knowledge above all things, and are behind many of the most important scientific advancements. It was a centre of learning, until the War turned the Selasi homeplanet into a toxic wasteland.
